And the Award goes to…

The Awesome Award goes to "Stori Tumbuna"

The APERTURE Awesome Award goes to “Stori Tumbuna: Ancestors’ Tales” by Paul Wolffram

Congratulation to Paul Wolffram, the director of “Stori Tumbuna: Ancestors’ Tales” for winning the Awesome Award! Stori Tumbuna was selected for its innovative approach to ethnographic films and as the winner, Paul received $1000 grant from the Awesome Foundation Melbourne. Unfortunately, Paul wasn’t able to attend the inaugural APERTURE Festival in Melbourne to receive the Award in person but he sent us a video message that we played to the audience on the Closing night on Sat, Nov 23rd. We’re glad to hear that the grant will support his return to Papua New Guinea to complete the third film in the Lak trilogy. Watch Paul’s video below.

Also congratulation to “Monk by Blood” directed by Ema Ryan Yamazaki for winning the People’s Choice Award. It’s a beautiful story of young Scion who is caught between East and West, and between his family’s traditions and a globalizing world.
